BREWERTON, NY - August 5, 2016 - Friday night at the Brewerton Speedway Larry Wight from Phoenix, NY showed that the recent decision to switch to a Bicknell chassis was the correct one, parking his Gypsum Express/No.99L in victory lane.

In the 35 lap Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modified feature, Wight was both quick and patient as he waited for racing lanes to open and when they did he took full advantage. Wight moved into second with 10 laps to go and without the aid of a yellow ran down Chuck Bower who was 3.5 seconds ahead, down to less than a second when the yellow flag waved setting up a green, white, checker finish. On the restart Wight drove by Bower for his second ‘D-Shaped Dirt Demon’ win of the year.

Joe August Jr. and Tim Kerr brought the Tracey Equipment DIRTcar Modified field down to the green with Kerr grabbing the early advantage.

With 10 laps complete, Kerr and Chuck Bower ran bumper to bumper setting a fast pace out front. With two and three wide racing throughout the field Vic Coffey, Billy Whittaker and Ryan Phelps showed on the scoring tower in the top five.

On lap 12 Bower pulled a power move going down the back straight pulling even with Kerr and by the time he exited turns three and four he was scored the new leader.

With 15 laps showing on the scoreboard Bower opened a fifteen car length lead as Kerr, Whittaker, Coffey and Phelps were still slugging it out for top five spots.

Bower built up a full straightaway lead on lap 20. Behind Bower there was an incredible battle between Kerr, Whittaker, Coffey, Phelps, Rob Bellinger, Chris Hile and Larry Wight as they ran bumper to bumper and side by side in a tight pack for second through eighth.

With Wight getting stronger as the laps clicked off, he put the power down on lap 23 going by four cars in one move to move into fourth. Just two laps later Wight moved into second but would Bower’s 3.5 second lead be too much to overcome?

Lap after lap Wight rapidly cut into to Bower’s lead that was down to a blink of an eye when the caution flag would wave setting up a green, white, checker finish. On the restart Wight had no problem driving by Bower to be first under the checkers. Behind Wight there was a mad scramble to the finish that saw Rob Bellinger, Tim Sears Jr., Chuck Bower and Ryan Phelps finished second through fifth.
